The First Affiliated Hospital and the First Clinical Medical College of the Army Medical University of the People's Liberation Army, known as the Southwest Hospital. Located in Gaotanyan, Shapingba District, Chongqing, it is a modern comprehensive "Grade III Grade A" hospital that integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care, and rehabilitation. Formerly known as the Central Hospital of the National Government, it was built in Nanjing in 1929 and relocated to Chongqing in 1941. In 1949, it was taken over by the Southwest Military and Political Committee and named Southwest Hospital in 1950. In 1975, it was renamed the First Affiliated Hospital of the Third Military Medical University. In 2016, it was transferred to the Training and Management Department of the Military Commission, and in 2017, it was transferred to the Army as the First Affiliated Hospital of the Army Medical University.
